On August 18, 2021, the construction of Shanghai BiBo Biopharmaceuticals large-scale CDMO integrated platform phase II (P03) project has been officially started, and held a groundbreaking ceremony in the new Lingang area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone. This represented the construction of the world’s first 30,000-liter large-scale mammalian cell production line was officially launched.
Wu Xiaohua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Lingang New Area Management Committee of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, attended the groundbreaking ceremony, with Zhang Tong, Director of High-tech Industry and Science and Technology Innovation Division of Lingang New Area Administrative Committee, and Zou Linkun, Secretary of Party Committee and President of Shanghai Lingang Fengxian Development Co. The ceremony was hosted by Dr. Jiao Peng, President and CEO of BiBo.

The P03 project in Lingang Phase II will build the world’s first large-scale stainless steel mammalian cell production line with the largest single tank volume of 30,000 liters under BiBo’s original and disruptive PanFlex® engineering system, which will fill the core equipment and key technology gaps in the industrialization of biopharmaceuticals in China, make up for the shortcomings of the industry, break through the bottleneck of biopharmaceutical production, and guarantee the safety of biopharmaceutical production and national biosecurity. “The P03 project, with a total planned capacity of over 200,000 liters, is the first large-scale production line has international standard in China. BiBo also becomes the fifth CDMO company in the world to have a large-scale production platform of more than 10,000 liters, and is the first international owner of a 30,000-liter production line. By then, Shanghai Lingang will become a new pole of biopharmaceutical industrialization in the world, besides Europe and America.
